Life Education

Today we went to see Harold in the Life Education caravan.
We had to line up in height order.

The tall people sat at the back so we could all see.

We love Harold! He taught us a new song.

We learned about healthy food and how it is good for our body.

Book Week Kicks Off!

Today was the start of the ACS Book Week. We began the day by making special books about our trip to the dairy farm with the Year 7 and 8 students.

We worked with them on the computers. We chose photos and wrote a story together. Soon we will get to take them home and share them with our families.

Afterwards they read us stories and we read them some poetry from our books.

This week we have been learning about changing milk into yoghurt. Today we made a label for our own yoghurt flavour. Then we mixed our special ingredients into our yoghurt and tried our new flavours. Some of us liked it and some of us did not!

There Were Six in the Bed....

There were six in the bed and the little one said "roll over, roll over!" We loved acting out this ryhme today in maths as part of our number knowledge work for numbers 1-10. Rolling over the same way was tricky!

Congratulations to...

Faith and Izzy, who have been working very hard on their maths and reading. We were pleased to award them certificates celebrating their achievements this week.

Taste testing

Room A and B have been studying Milk this term. We have done some taste testing of different types of milk and yoghurt.

We tried blue and green top milk, farmhouse milk and a different type of milk that comes from plants - soy milk.

The most popular type of milk was blue top. The next was soy milk. Not many people liked the green milk!

Today we tasted a few different types of yoghurt. It was interesting to talk about the different fruits and ingredients they had in them.

Chocolate caramel dairy food; Pineapple and coconut yoghurt; Mango, passionfruit and papaya; and Strawberry and pomegranate yoghurt were the different flavours we tried.

Yum! Yum! Yum!

We liked the chocolate caramel dairy food best.

The pineapple and coconut yoghurt was our favourite.

I liked the mango, passionfruit and papaya yoghurt.

We are writing instructions on how to make yoghurt this week and on Thursday we are going to 'invent' our own flavours by mixing different ingredients into the yoghurt we make.

Father's Day baking

During Explore Time on Friday we made some special fudge slice to give our Dads for Father's Day.

We smashed up biscuits.

Stirred it all together.

Then put it in the fridge to set.
