Puzzle Time

This afternoon Room A enjoyed a time exploring the puzzles. Some were big floor puzzles, others were table puzzles. Everyone was very focussed and busy - well done Room A! 

Athletics

Very soon we will have the Junior School Athletics Day. We have been practising different athletic skills in PE this term. Today Room B children were learning how to jump over the high jump. We had to practise scissor jumping then line up on different sides depending on which leg we lifted first. More children liked to jump their right leg first.

Theo's Simple Machine

Theo made this simple machine at home, using some construction building toys he got from the Toy Library. Well done Theo!

Room A - "What Am I?" Bag

Joel took the "What Am I?" Bag home last week. He put his toy dog in the bag and then thought of some clues to help us clues what it was.

Levers Part 2

For the second part of our levers works we went outside and tried to lift heavy weights. We used a stick as a lever to help us and a block of wood as a fulcrum to push against. Next we went back inside and used the long blocks as levers in the classroom.

  

Levers Part 1

Last week we learnt about our first Simple Machine - the lever. First we made see-saws using blocks and the animals. We learnt some key vocab words - load, heavy, light and fulcrum.

Being Curious

This term we are looking at Thinking for our Key Competency work.Today we we were curious about how to make hokey pokey using only 3 ingredients. It was yummy! 

Hezekiah's Maths Sorting

Hezekiah did some amazing counting and sorting during Explore Time this week.

Sorting Simple Machines

Today we tried to sort some objects into two groups - those that are simple machines and those that are not simple machines. It was tricky! We are going to see how clever our Mums and Dads are at sorting them during our Explore Times this week.

Simple Machines Exploring

Today we used different materials to show what we knew about simple machines. We could choose to draw, make out of the junk boxes, build with the blocks or model with the plasticine. It was lots of fun and we used our clever thinking to help show our ideas.
